Proposed Affordable Rural Housing in Hever Parish
Proposed Affordable Rural Housing in Hever Parish
English Rural is a specialist non-profit rural housing association, established in 1991. We only build and manage homes in village locations, principally across the south of England. All the homes we build are community-led and designed to benefit local people. We are also one of the leading national advocates on affordable rural housing issues, with HRH The Princess Royal as our Patron.
Generally speaking, we develop our homes on ‘rural exception sites’. This enables us to ensure they are affordable and secured for local people – forever. Our residents and the local community are at the heart of what we do.
Affordable doesn’t mean poor quality. Our homes are designed and built to high standards, usually using local design features and ensuring that their environmental impact is minimal. We build beautiful homes that villages can be proud of and our homes consistently win awards for design and construction.

We are proposing to design, build and manage a small development in Four Elms of ten affordable rented homes for local people. The scheme would comprise the following homes:
4x one bedroom flats;
5x two bedroom houses; and
1x three bedroom house
In addition, we are proposing 3x 'Custom Build Plots' for cross subsidy of the affordable homes. Please refer to the FAQ section to learn more about Cross Subsidy and what a Custom Build Plot is.

The proposed site for the homes is located to the rear (North) of the Four Elms Nursery and is largely secluded from view from the North, East and West by established trees and hedges. The existing nursery buildings largely screen the site from the South. The site is just under 1.4 acres in size and comprises a flat grassed field that is not farmed. Access to the proposed site would be from Bull Lane.
